“Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.”

  • Our Mission

Formed in 2010 by nine Ponce Inlet veterans, the initial focus was to create a veterans’ memorial where people could pay tribute to those who served. The association exists to honor the sacrifices of veterans, maintain the memorial for perpetuity and we are dedicated to the support of worthy veteran causes.

The memorial stands as one of only four federally recognized veterans’ memorials in the State of Florida.

Ponce Inlet Veterans Memorial Association is a 501(c)19 nonprofit organization managed by our Board of Directors.

  • Memorial History

Dedicated in 2011, the memorial stands as a special place of remembrance for those who have served in any branch of the military. The memorial was created with all private funds.

The memorial pathway is comprised of pavers on which are inscribed personal information about a veteran as provided by a friend or loved one.

Pavers acknowledge those who have served during years of peace and war – one even going back to the Revolutionary War.

  • Memorial Expansion

In 2023 as a result of the continuous need to acknowledge and honor veterans, there no longer were any pavers available. In 2024 we embarked on an expansion of the memorial, consisting of two ‘Walls of Remembrance’. The pathway to the walls from the existing memorial and around the two walls will be created by a new type of paver that will be resilient to weather and wear.

Those pavers will again provide the ability to recognize those who have served. Each of the walls will be covered in black granite. On the facing of the granite, people will be able to have stainless steel plaques on the wall acknowledging those friends or family members who have served.
